Hunan Promotes Cultural Tourism in Hong Kong

Themed "Welcome to Charming Hunan", the Promotion Conference on Hunan Cultural Tourism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was held in Hong Kong on the afternoon of May 30. With culture and tourism as the medium, the event aimed to strengthen friendship, seek cooperation, and promote development. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, attended and delivered a speech.

Paul Chan, financial secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR); Hunan provincial leaders Zhou Haibing and Guo Zhenggui; and, Qu Hai, secretary of the Hunan Provincial People's Government, attended.


On the afternoon of May 30, Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of Hunan Province, attended the Promotion Conference on Hunan Cultural Tourism in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and made a speech.


In his speech, Mao Weiming stated that despite the challenges posed by the pandemic over the past three years, the friendship and exchanges between the people of Hunan and Hong Kong have remained strong and resilient. Under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, Hunan is making bold strides towards realizing its vision for the future, as outlined in the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" Strategy, while Hong Kong is striding forward with confidence in the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The two regions have close ties, deep friendship, frequent exchanges, and extensive cooperation. With the high-speed rail linking the two places, people from Hunan can experience the charm of Hong Kong which is known as the "Pearl of the Orient", while Hong Kong tourists can get easier access to Hunan to enjoy its picturesque scenery.

In his passionate introduction of Hunan to the guests, Mao Weiming highlighted that Hunan has a long history, profound culture, magnificent landscapes, and developed industries. And Hunan is one of the provinces in China that is richest in tourism resources.

Mao stated that the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government will make every effort to deepen cooperation between Hunan and Hong Kong, creating a favorable environment and providing excellent services for the people of the two sides. Mao expressed his warm welcome to friends from all walks of life to visit Hunan to embrace the rich culture and enjoy the beauty of landscapes.

During the meeting, the "Inbound Tourism Incentives for Bringing Visitors to Hunan Province" was also released. Through the establishment of incentive funds for inbound tourism and other measures, the document aims to increase support and guidance for consumption in the cultural tourism sector, further promote the stable recovery of the inbound tourism market in the province, and accelerate the building of Hunan into a world tourist destination. Chenzhou, Changsha, and Zhangjiajie made themed promotions respectively. Representatives from tourism enterprises in both Hunan and Hong Kong signed cooperation agreements focusing on reciprocal policies, mutual exchange of tourists, and shared market prosperity.
