Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Hunan governor, met in Hong Kong with Mr. Zheng Yanxiong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on May 29, 2023.

Governor Mao extended appreciation for LOCPG HK's long-term concern on and assistance to Hunan's development, especially the great support it provided for the 2023 Hunan-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Investment & Trade Conference Week. He mentioned that, at present, Hunan and Hong Kong governments enjoy increasingly close exchanges and thriving trading, and have continued to broaden the bilateral cooperation fields. The concern and support and the liaison work of LOCPG HK have been key underlying factors behind these momentums. The conference week, restarted in Hong Kong after 4 years' suspension, is a pragmatic practice of Hunan Province to implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important instructions on building the "Three Hubs". Hunan government will vigorously dovetail with the GBA development strategy, enhance cooperations in sci-tech innovation and key industries, and continuously carry out exchanges in the areas of cultural tourism, fitness and medical care, education, and talent cultivation, to further deepen and elevate Hunan-HK cooperation. He hoped that LOCPG HK will continue to concern on and provide support to the development of Hunan Province, promote Hunan, and deepen all-round liaison between Hunan and Hong Kong SAR, to advance the shared prosperity and development of the two places.

Director Zheng said that, Hong Kong SAR is now at a new stage of accelerating and deepening integration into the overall development of the country and advancing toward prosperity. It is necessary for Hong Kong SAR to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Hunan and other regions in the mainland. LOCPG HK will give full play to its role of "super go-between" in further enhancing cooperation between Hong Kong and Hunan in the fields of economy, trade, culture, science and technology, education, and tourism.
