The 5-day 11th China (Hunan) International Mineral & Gem Expo (CMGE) was concluded on May 23th, 2023. The number of visitors reached 250,000, with a peak of over 36,568 on May 19th, the opening day. The total trading volume hit 1.86 billion yuan. The exhibition was teeming with visitors, all eager to explore the latest products and services.
This year's CMGE showcased Chenzhou's advantages of "lithium" mineral and gemstone resources. The city has been committed to building a "battery capital" that takes the lead in Hunan and is among the first tier in China. Different sizes and styles of lithium pyroxene exhibits from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Brazil, and other places were also displayed at the expo.
Lithium pyroxene is a pegmatite mineral, often accompanied by crystal, tourmaline, and beryl. Its condition, color, and clarity have strong ornamental value. Lithium ore can be used as raw materials for lithium chemicals and is widely used in lithium chemical, glass, and ceramic industries. It is the core material for new energy batteries.
There are nearly ten kinds of lithium-related minerals in Chenzhou, mainly in Linwu, Yizhang, and Guiyang counties. The lithium oxide reserves exceed 5 million tons, with broad investment prospects.
Chenzhou City, after three years' suspension of hosting the expo due to the epidemic, once again welcomed the ambassadors to China and international exhibitors. Sardar Muhammad, acting consul general of the Pakistan Consulate in Guangzhou, and other diplomats in China attended this year's CMGE. He believed that CMGE is the most professional mineral and gemstone exhibition, expecting that China and Pakistan could have more exchanges and cooperation in cultural tourism and mineral products exploration.
About 80 foreign exhibitors from 21 countries, including Australia, the USA, Morocco, India, and Pakistan, brought their treasures to the expo. Visitors enjoyed a feast of mineral and gemstone treasures, shared the achievements of international cultural exchanges, and experienced the unique charm of Chenzhou as the "mineral and crystal capital".
Chenzhou has also taken "minerals" as a medium to deepen economic and trade partnerships and collaboration with international friends. More than 300 international professional buyers, 800 mineral and crystal collectors, and heads of 200 associations, 50 museums, and 1,000 purchasing companies came to the expo to make deals. Chenzhou's advantageous resources, ecology, and investment environment are favored by more enterprises, which will further advance the expo to align with international standards.
