The 2023 Forbes China Consumer Vitality Cities List was released on May 19. Changsha ranked 9th in the list, up one place from last year.
The cities were evaluated based on five major indicators, namely consumption activity, business maturity, policy support, transportation convenience and international recognition. Forbes China conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the consumption vitality of major cities in the Chinese mainland, and finally selected the top 20 cities by comprehensive scores from first-tier cities, new first-tier cities, and second- and third-tier cities. As a result, the 2023 Forbes China Consumer Vitality Cities List was created.
Beijing topped the list, followed by Shanghai and Guangzhou. Chongqing, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Changsha, and Suzhou ranked from 4th to 10th place. Nanjing, Ningbo, Xi'an, Tianjin, Qingdao, Hefei, Foshan, Wuxi, Zhengzhou, and Dongguan ranked from 11th to 20th place.
