On May 15, the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism released the results of statistical analysis on the major units under key monitoring in April 2023. The data showed that from January to April, Hunan's major tourist areas under key monitoring received more than 113 million tourist trips and generated ticket revenue of over 2.3 billion yuan, up 134.1% and 217.41% year on year respectively. Among them, 11 national 5A-level scenic areas received more than 31.7 million tourist arrivals and had ticket revenue of over 779 million yuan, surging 341.28% and 522.27% year on year respectively.

Since the beginning of this year, the 11 5A-level tourist sites have taken various measures to attract tourists. Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport opened Zhangjiajie-Haikou and Zhangjiajie-Nanchang-Qingdao round-trip flights, and resumed international flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Bangkok, so as to meet travel demands of Chinese and foreign tourists. Nanyue District carried out an action to improve tourism environment and the merchants have willingly abided by the law, regulations, and the order, which make tourists feel at home. Langshan Mountain Scenic Area hosted a series of activities to woo tourists, including first kite festival, a large cultural and tourism show — "Falling Love in Langshan Mountain", and free admission offered on March 8, the International Women's Day.

China has gradually optimized policies for entry and exit management. Thanks to these policies, Hunan's travel agencies saw explosive growth from January to April. A total of 108 travel services under key monitoring organized more than 1.28 million domestic tourist trips and received 783,209 tourist arrivals, jumped 590.47% and 764.49% from 2022 respectively.
