Entrusted by Hunan Provincial People's Government, Wei Shuping, vice mayor of Yueyang City, led a municipal government economic and trade delegation to visit Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal between April 23 and 30, 2023. The delegation aimed to invite businesses to participate in the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and hold project matching activities.

During the visit, the delegation communicated with dignitaries, local government officials, enterprise representatives, Chinese envoys, and people from all walks of life in the two countries. They conducted in-depth discussions on organizing the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and strengthening economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation. Besides, the delegation held an investment and trade promotion meeting, visited key investment projects, and reached cooperation intentions in many aspects.

The delegation seized the opportunity of the upcoming third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, and gave full play to the all-round resource advantages in the exchanges with Côte d'Ivoire and Senegalese, such as foreign affairs, business, and enterprises. They organized 12 official visits, negotiations and inspection tours, and met with more than 200 people from all walks of life including dignitaries, Chinese envoys in the two countries, local government officials and enterprise representatives. These activities had received positive feedbacks and strong support from all sides, and helped promote the third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo and recommend Hunan Province and its Yueyang City. The influence of Hunan and Yueyang in Africa has been expanded. This has laid a foundation for the establishment of a long-term mechanism of economic and trade cooperation with Africa and the construction of a liaison network. The governments and enterprises in both Cote d'Ivoire and Senegal have expressed great interest in strengthening all-round cooperation with Yueyang. The Chinese envoys in the two countries and enterprise representatives vowed to actively support Yueyang to cooperate with the local governments, industrial parks, chambers of commerce and enterprises of the two countries, and provide assistance in further promoting exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, culture and other fields.
