On May 2, two small yet beautiful birds, the yellow-breasted buntings, perched on the branches along the Daze Lake in Wangcheng District, Changsha City. The yellow-breasted bunting (Emberiza aureola) is under first-class state protection in China and classified as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The migratory bird usually breeds in northeast China and Siberia, Russia, and overwinters in the coastal regions of southeast China, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Its appearance in Changsha proves the unique attractiveness of the city's ecological environment. (Photo/Zhang Jingming, Hunan Daily)
