Hunan College Students Mark China's Youth Day

China's Youth Day is marked on May 4 every year. On the occasion of the day, the universities in Hunan Province launched various celebrations such as themed activity of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) members, award conference, and keynote lectures, to encourage the youths to carry on the May Fourth spirit and forge ahead courageously.



The School of Automation of Central South University held "Lunan Youth Lectures" on May 4. Outstanding youth representatives shared their experiences with the audience, including winning sci-tech prizes in domestic and international competitions; dedicating themselves to rural education for four consecutive years; and, starting up and operating three sci-tech companies.



The School of Physics and Electronics of Hunan University organized a youth race on that day. More than 40 teachers and students ran around the campus to present the vigor of youths. "Our college life draws to a close. On this special day, we hold onto our faith in youth and explore our university through racing. It is really invigorating," said Chen Anning, a soon-to-be graduate.



The School of Mathematics and Computational Science of Xiangtan University organized a student team to give "mobile lectures" at Changsha's revolutionary landmark spots, such as the Orange Isle and the Former Site of Xinmin Institute. They explained the May Fourth spirit and the great efforts made by the patriotic youths over 100 years ago, and were highly praised by the tourists.



The School of Literature and Journalism of Changsha University of Science and Technology produced and broadcasted a series of "youth model" videos. Outstanding student representatives focused on what the youths should struggle for and how they will make it, and talked about the power of youth via stories, to help more students foster the correct worldview, outlook on life and values.




Nearly 300 students of University of South China visited the Hengyang Martyrs Cemetery and the memorial halls dedicated to the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. "We should cherish today's happy life, carry on the May Fourth spirit, shoulder the responsibility to strive for national rejuvenation, and write a new chapter of the new era," said a student Party member Tan Yuanyuan from the School of Public Health of the university.




Hunan First Normal University launched a "taking photos with the CYLC flag" activity. The students wearing CYLC emblems and took photos with the CYLC flag at the sports ground and library to celebrate this day of youths.
