The Youth Eco-Environment Protection Joint Action Along the Yangtze River Basin and the 2023 Hunan "Beautiful China-Youth Action" were launched in Yueyang City, Hunan Province on April 25. More than 60,000 young people from 11 places along the Yangtze River Basin including Qinghai, Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan, Chongqing, Hubei, and Hunan participated in a joint action of cleaning up riverbanks and attended related activities in person or online, aiming to jointly protect the Yangtze River.
Relying on 140 "He Xiao Qing" action centers, Hunan Province will lead 187,000 "He Xiao Qing" volunteers, 3.29 million CYLC members, and 6.6 million young pioneers to organize various joint actions to protect the environment together with 8,283 young volunteer service teams from 10 places along the Yangtze River Basin. An institutionalized and standardized joint action mechanism for young people to protect the eco-environment along the Yangtze River Basin will be explored and established.
The event was guided by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League (CYL), hosted by the CYL Hunan Provincial Committee, the Office of the Working Committee of River Chief System of Hunan Province, the CPC Yueyang Municipal Committee, and Yueyang Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the CYL Yueyang Municipal Committee and the Office of the Working Committee of River Chief System of Yueyang City.
At the launching ceremony, the Implementation Plan of 2023 Hunan "Beautiful China-Youth Action" was issued. Young individuals and volunteer service groups were awarded for their outstanding performances in garbage classification.
