A recital of the "Authentic China – Splendid Hunan" Hunan Acrobatics Shows in the Dominican Republic and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and a pre-show mobilization conference were held at the Hunan Acrobatic Art Theater on the afternoon of April 22, 2023.

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic and the 50th anniversary of the independence of the Bahamas. The cultural exchange activities are jointly sponsored by the Chinese Embassy in the Dominican Republic, the Chinese Embassy in the Bahamas, the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee; undertaken by the Hunan Performance Group; and, performed by the Hunan Acrobatic Art Theater.

The Hunan Acrobatic Art Theater and the Hunan Performance Group artists have meticulously planned and worked together to form a 30-member performance team, in order to better fulfill this cultural exchange mission. They will stage five performances at the Santo Domingo National Theater, Santo Domingo University Theater, Santiago Grand Theater in the Dominican Republic and the Grand Bahama Island and Nassau of the Bahamas between April 29 and May 13.

After a three-year suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is the first foreign cultural exchange team to be sent from Hunan Province, marking the restart of Hunan's foreign cultural and artistic exchanges.

Since initiated in 2016, the "Authentic China" overseas tour brand has completed nearly 800 overseas performances, including more than 600 commercial ones. The audiences have covered more than 20 countries and regions worldwide, with a total visits of nearly 800,000. It has received over 2,000 domestic and international media reports. In 2017, the "Authentic China" giant poster appeared at the New York Times Square and was shortlisted for the large-scale achievements exhibition for the past five years by the Ministry of Publicity. In 2019, the "Authentic China" overseas tour brand was rated as a national key cultural export project for 2019-2020.
