Twenty-three tonnes of fresh avocados from Kenya arrived at the Hunan (Red Star) Agricultural Products Circulation Industrial Park in Changsha on April 20, marking the first batch of such imports from Kenya to Hunan Province this year.
As summer approaches, African avocados take top spot in the market. Avocados are important agricultural exports for Kenya and account for nearly half of the country's total fruit exports, making the country the largest exporter of avocados on the African continent. Domestically-sold Kenyan avocados which rely heavily on air transport are fewer and more expensive. The peak sales season of avocados officially kicks off as shipments of avocados arrive at ports, one after another.
This marks the first time that fresh avocados from Africa have been directly shipped to Hunan via Full Container Load (FCL), following steady promotion of "green channel" measures for African agricultural products entering China.
Hunan (Red Star) Agricultural Products Circulation Industrial Park will give full play to the comprehensive advantages of the market, and leverage the leading and driving role of Hunan Free Trade Demonstration Zone to combine the high-quality fruit resources of Africa with the advantages of China's super-large market, actively build a high-speed two-way fresh goods trading network between China and Africa, and provide consumers with more shopping choices.
The Hunan (Red Star) Agricultural Products Circulation Industrial Park has a variety of imported fruits from 21 countries and regions around the world. It has become a fruit industry leader and a first-class fruit trading center in China, with a diverse range of products, a plethora of brands, and direct supply of fruits from their places of origin to central China.
