Recently the Hengyang Customs has handled the procedures of recording a cross-border e-commerce export overseas warehouse (customs supervision code "9810") for a Hengyang-based foreign trade company.
Located in Germany's Dortmund City, the warehouse is part of Amazon FBA warehouses. It mainly exports stationeries, restaurant service bells and other daily necessities. It was Hengyang's first cross-border e-commerce export overseas warehouse since the city was approved as a cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone in November 2022. It also signaled a new breakthrough of the Hengyang Customs in serving the cross-border e-commerce industry.
The "9810" export overseas warehouse adopts the operation mode of "transportation + warehouse management + local delivery", that is, domestic enterprises first export goods to overseas warehouses through cross-border logistics, and then deliver them to overseas buyers from overseas warehouses after realizing transactions through cross-border e-commerce platforms. "Through this mode, the goods can be delivered to overseas consumers faster, which enhances the shopping experience of consumers," said a person in charge of the company. He added that the delivery efficiency of our original mode of Fulfillment By Merchant (FBM) is low. It generally takes about 25 days. One of the disadvantages of using FBM is that there is a risk of products getting lost during shipping. However, overseas warehouses enable companies to have goods prepared for delivery in advance. After customers make transactions through cross-border e-commerce platforms, the goods will be automatically sorted, dispatched, and delivered to customers in 1 to 3 days. Overseas warehouses can also provide more timely, high-quality after-sales service.
"Compared with general trade, enterprises applying to '9810' export overseas warehouse mode can submit fewer documents in customs declaration, resulting in quicker logistics transport and inspection," said a person in charge of the Hengyang Customs, adding that in order to promote the rapid development of cross-border e-commerce, the customs authority visited enterprises, learned about their business needs to export goods through cross-border e-commerce oversea warehouses, and provided "customized" counseling services for them.
