2023 Hunan Spring Rural Cultural Tourism Festival

A press conference on the 2023 Hunan Spring Rural Cultural Tourism Festival and Hunan Spring Village Gala Demonstration Showcase was held in Changsha on April 6. It announced that the festival will kick off in Tongdao Dong Autonomous County, Huaihua City on April 20. The serial activities will be held between April 7 and May 31.

The 2023 Hunan Spring Rural Cultural Tourism Festival is hosted by the Tongdao Dong Autonomous County and Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County. Main activities include the opening ceremony, a red wine-themed rural music festival, and Hunan Spring Village Gala Demonstration Showcase, focusing on unique cultural tourism resources of Dong ethnic group and new forms of products in Tongdao and Zhijiang.

Yu Jianyong, vice mayor of Huaihua City, said that Huaihua has 51 ethnic groups. The ethnic minority groups make up 41.91% of the total population in the city. Among them, the Dong ethnic group has the largest population, making Huaihua the biggest Dong-inhabited area in China. Yu also mentioned the festival will also be utilizd as an opportunity to further promote ethnic tourism. 

The Hunan Spring Village Gala Demonstration Showcase includes the Original Ecology Folk Song Festival of Hunan, Guangxi, and Guizhou; Spring Village Gala in Huangdu Dong Cultural Village; and, Spring Village Gala at Wanfo Mountain. In addition, Huaihua's 13 counties, county-level cities, and districts will host 20 serial activities. 

The events are hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism and the Huaihua Municipal People's Government.
