5th Int'l Commercial & Legal Cooperation Forum Opens in Changsha

The 5th International Commercial & Legal Cooperation Forum opened in Changsha on March 23. Ke Liangdong, vice chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and member of its leading Party members' group; Xu Xianming, Standing Committee member and Supervisory and Judicial Affairs Committee vice chairman of the 13th National People's Congress, and vice president of the China Law Society; Calvin Phua, deputy permanent secretary of the Ministry of Law of Singapore; and, Zheng Jianxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and mayor of Changsha, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Nepalese Ambassador to China Bishnu Pukar Shrestha; Huang Jin, vice president of the China Law Society and president of the Chinese Society of International Law; Kang Zhenlin, vice mayor of Changsha and chairman of the Changsha Federation of Industry and Commerce; and, Xu Fan, secretary-general of the Changsha Municipal People's Government, attended.

This year's forum centered around the theme of "Guaranteeing High-standard Opening up by Rule of Law, Promoting High-quality Development Through Cooperation". There was a main forum titled "Economic Globalization Development and Legal Guarantee" and three parallel forums focusing on topics such as "New Investment Drivers Boost Global Economic and Trade Cooperation", "New Regional Rules Promote International Trade", and "New Compliance Rules Facilitate Business Environment Construction".

The forum has further deepened practical cooperation between Chinese and foreign business and legal circles, and facilitated them to jointly cope with various risks and challenges faced by enterprises in international operations, practice genuine multilateralism through cooperation and mutual trust, promote the improvement of international economic and trade rules through consensus on the rule of law, and boost international economic and trade cooperation and development.
