Starting from March 11th, Changsha Metro Lines 2 and 4 increased the number of trains and shortened train intervals during peak hours to further increase capacity and efficiency.
More trains ran on Line 2 during weekend rush hours, and the interval between trains is now cut from 3 minutes and 47 seconds to 3 minutes and 31 seconds.
Extra trains are added to Line 4 during weekday morning and evening rush hours. A mixed operation mode of long and short routes was implemented on the line during morning rush hours. During morning rush hours, the shortest train interval has been reduced from 5 minutes and 28 seconds to 4 minutes. Similarly, during evening rush hours, the shortest train interval has been cut from 5 minutes and 43 seconds to 5 minutes and 28 seconds.
Changsha has quickly resumed its hustle and bustle since the beginning of 2023. The city's subway passenger flow continues to hit new highs. This is the second time that Changsha Metro has shortened train operating intervals this year, after shortening the interval between trains on Line 2 on February 24th. The move will further ease the pressure on passenger transport during peak hours.
The short route of Line 4 is from Guanziling Station to Fubuhe Station, while the line's long route is from Guanziling Station to Dujiaping Station. It should be noted that passengers taking the short route who want to get off at stations between Fubuhe Station and Dujiaping Station should transfer to the long route.
According to train announcements, they are advised to transfer at Hunan University Station and wait for a train heading to Dujiaping Station on the same platform..
If they miss the transfer at Hunan University Station, they can also choose to transfer at Fubuhe Station. They should follow the staff’s instructions, walk to the station hall on another platform and wait for a train bound for Dujiaping Station.
Changsha Metro has increased its capacity and efficiency for 19 times since the city's first metro line started operation in 2014. Practical actions have been taken to empower the internal circulation of urban transportation and make it more convenient for citizens and tourists to travel. To facilitate "zero-distance" transfer between subway and railway stations, Changsha Metro has built security check-free channels for passengers transferring to the high-speed railway and intercity lines at the Changsha South Railway Station and Jintai Square Station, respectively. In addition, automatic ticket vending machines are set up at the channels.
