Zhang Qingwei, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) and head of the Hunan delegation to the first session of the 14th NPC, met with the media workers accompanying the delegation on March 12, 2023. He also communicated via video link with the Hunan media reporting on the national annual two sessions in Beijing and Changsha.

He extended sincere greetings to all of the journalists and encouraged them to comprehensively improve overall abilities to unite and inspire the people. He called for strengthening confidence, rallying public support, caring for the people's concerns, and working together to promote the building of a new modern Hunan through a Chinese path to modernization.

Mao Weiming, deputy head of the Hunan delegation, attended and delivered a speech. Wang Shuangquan and Li Dianxun, deputy heads of the delegation, were present. Xie Weijiang, a member of the Standing Committee and secretary general of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Yang Haodong, a member of the Standing Committee and director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, joined the meeting in Changsha. Wu Lan, deputy head of the delegation, presided over the meeting in Beijing.
