The average life expectancy of Changsha citizens has reached 80.4 years, ranking at the forefront among provincial capitals in central China, according to the 2023 Changsha Health Care and Medical Security Work Conference held on February 27.
Last year, Changsha implemented the Healthy Changsha construction campaign. A total of 1.619 billion yuan has been invested, and 2,500 new hospital beds have been added. All the city's districts, county and county-level cities have access to Grade A tertiary hospitals. Fourteen township health centers or community health service centers and 55 village health clinics have been renovated and expanded. Sixteen community health service centers have been selected to carry out ten actions to improve their capacities. All village health clinics have been standardized.
In addition, Changsha has also strengthened the supply of health services for the elderly and children, successfully established 9 national exemplary elderly-friendly communities and 158 elderly-friendly medical institutions, and further promoted the rational layout of pilot hospice care centers and institutions that integrate medical and elderly care services.
