On February 20, 1,593 cubic meters of spruce logs imported from Poland arrived at Yueyang's Chenglingji Port under the supervision of Yueyang Customs. This was the first time Hunan imported spruce logs directly.

Upon operation, the Chenglingji Imported Logs Inspection Field is estimated to handle more than one million cubic meters of directly imported logs and 40,000 more TEUs yearly. It can cut 1,000 CNY per TEU in logistics cost, thus saving about 40 million CNY for enterprises annually. In addition, it will help boost industrial transformation and upgrading of the local wood processing industry and facilitate forming 100-billion-CNY industries in the China-Africa Industrial and Trade Park.

The China General Administration of Customs approved the Chenglingji Imported Logs Inspection Field on December 30, 2022. The Yueyang Municipal People's Government, Yueyang Customs, Chenglingji New Port Area, and Chenglingji Comprehensive Bonded Zone had prepared in advance. They have provided importers with information about the export control laws and regulations of log production countries and China's inspection requirements on log imports; sorted out existing inspection regulations on log imports; and, intensified training on imported logs supervision. Beyond that, they have elevated inspection standards to prevent security risks such as invasive alien species in the imported logs and guarantee that the imported logs can go through customs clearance smoothly.
