In 2022, Changsha actively coped with the impact of factors beyond expectations and its economy showed an overall good trend of sustained recovery and steady progress. According to the results of unified regional calculation of gross domestic product (GDP), Changsha's GDP reached over 1.396 trillion yuan in 2022, up 4.5% from the previous year. Of the total, the added value of the primary industry was 45.130 billion yuan, up 3.6%; that of the secondary industry was 558.958 billion yuan, up 6.2%; and that of the tertiary industry was 792.524 billion yuan, up 3.4%.

The added value of Changsha's industries above designated size grew by 8.3%, with the manufacturing industry up by 8.7%. The city's fixed-asset investment increased by 5.1%, among which industrial investment increased by 3.8%. There were 1,505 projects worth more than 100 million yuan in the city, with the completed investment increasing by 5.6%. The city's total import and export value rose 21.1% to 331.556 billion yuan, and its actual utilization of foreign capital amounted to 3.099 billion US dollars, up 54.4%. The per capita disposable income of residents in the city was 58,850 yuan, an increase of 5.9%.
