Healthcare workers of the Third Internal Medicine Department of the Hunan Chest Hospital (Hunan Institute for Tuberculosis Control) recently received a handwritten English thank-you letter from a foreign patient. It says, " Dear beautiful nurses: I wanted to write to say thank you for making me feel better in such a short period of time…"

The Turkmenistan patient is an international student at a university in Changsha. One month ago, she found a shadow on the lung during her physical examination. She did not feel better after a period of treatment. She then came to the Hunan Chest Hospital for further treatment on January 19th.
The patient was diagnosed with secondary tuberculosis after a targeted examination. However, during the treatment period, due to her limited Chinese proficiency, she could not clearly understand the names of some specimens and examination items, making her anxious and helpless. Liu Chunxiang, head nurse of the Third Internal Medicine Department of the hospital, noticed this situation and specially asked Huang Yuanzheng, a nurse good at English in the department, to help her.
Before the examination, Huang Yuanzheng would tell the patient in detail what the item was, how it worked, and where to do it. During daily rounds, the medical staff also asked her if she had any problems. After a period of symptomatic treatment, the patient's condition improved, and she met the requirements for home medication treatment after leaving the hospital.
