Hunan Launches Consumer Assistance Campaign to Increase Farmers' Income

Hunan Province has organized and mobilized forces from all walks of life to jointly launch a centralized consumer assistance campaign since last November. So far, a total of 5.31 billion yuan of agricultural products have been sold, according to the Hunan Provincial Rural Revitalization Administration on February 6, 2023.


Hunan Province formulated and issued the "Hunan Provincial Work Plan for Centralized Consumer Assistance Campaign to Help Farmers Increase Their Incomes", set up special groups, and carefully organized forces from all walks of life to promote consumer assistance in an orderly manner.

The Hunan Provincial Rural Revitalization Administration took the lead in organizing various units and enterprises to integrate resources; announce sales demand lists regularly and in a targeted manner; establish the consumer assistance matchmaking platforms; and, focus on centralized sale of agricultural products.

The Organization Department of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee played the role of resident working teams with assigned officials to villages, by organizing and carrying out centralized sales activities of unsalable agricultural products in areas with large flow of people and great purchase demand.

Private enterprises, consumer support units, kindhearted people, and other sectors of the society participated in consumer service actions to purchase or help sell agricultural products.


Competent commercial authorities at all levels of Hunan Province invited local e-commerce experts to sell agricultural products in livestreaming events. Hengyang City invited local top internet-celebrities to introduce goods of all its counties and urban districts simultaneously. Agricultural products such as Leiyang's rice noodles and Hengdong's yellow peppers sold well online. The local internet-famous "Xiangmei Xinbao" of Loudi City adopted the "e-commerce plus livestream plus base plus farmer" model, selling more than 10 million yuan of agricultural products.


Enterprises and platforms such as commercial complexes and e-commerce carried out promotional activities online and offline via different themes and categories. CNHNB.com opened a special e-commerce New Year shopping festival column for online sales of agricultural products such as firewood cured pork and Zhuxue Wanzi (pork blood balls). Xingsheng Youxuan launched special promotional activities such as "Lunar New Year Season", "Bacon Season", and "Hunan-flavor Reunion Dinner" to help sell agricultural products worth of more than 4 million yuan.
