The China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. announced that Hunan railways handled 725,000 passenger trips on February 5, the Lantern Festival. Among them, there were 317,000 inbound trips, an increase of 34,000 compared with the same period last year, up 12.1%; and 408,000 outbound ones, an increase of 71,000 year on year, up 21.2%.
Hunan railways managed by the Guangzhou Railway Group launched a series of special activities on Lantern Festival. The Shaoshan South Railway Station organized a Party member service team to offer whole process travel guide for those in need; dispatched additional personnel to watch out passenger flow at the entry security checkpoints and other congested places; and, offered cooked Tangyuan (traditional food on Lantern Festival) to passengers. The Yiyang South Railway Station, together with the Changsha Railway Maintenance Section and the Yiyang Railway Station Police Station of the Changsha Railway Public Security Department, held an activity themed 2023 "Warm Lantern Festival", by organizing passengers to guess riddles and make lanterns. A high-speed railway bullet train group of the Changsha passenger transport section put up paper cuttings on windows and hang lanterns on carriages in advance. After passengers get onboard, they can participate in riddles guessing and paper cutting, adding a strong festive atmosphere.
As of February 5, there are still tickets available from the Changsha South Railway Station to Zhengzhou, Shenzhen, and short-distance routes in Hunan Province. Only a few tickets from Changsha South to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, and Guangzhou are for sale. Those from Zhangjiajie West, Huaihua South, Loudi South, Yongzhou, and Shaoyang to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai and other directions are in great demand.
