The 2023 Hunan Online New Year Shopping Festival lowered its curtain on January 28. During the one-month-long event, Hunan's original agricultural products were in the spotlight, with an online retail sales of 16.16 billion CNY.

The Hunan Post helped promote Mayang sweet oranges, Jiangyong pomelos, and Hengshan fertile oranges via purchasing meetings and discounted prices. More than 10,000 deals have been achieved.

Special marketing for county's specialty was held on WeChat store and online shopping mall of agricultural products. Xiangxi's cured meat, Changde's pueraria root noodles, and Wushifeng eggs sold well.

Folk custom activities and internet-celebrities' livestreaming were held to promote Hunan products. Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture held a new year shopping festival. Customers appreciated folk customs and purchased cured meat, silver ornaments, and batik products, enjoying a strong festive mood.

Shaoyang's shopping festival set up booths for the products with ethnic characteristics, and achieved 12 million CNY in online and offline sales.

Liuyang staged a live stream of fireworks show, which further stimulated fireworks marketing.

Hengyang's seven counties and five districts organized promotions simultaneously, and invited local internet-celebrities to promote products via livestreaming. Leiyang's rice noodles and cured meat, Hengdong's yellow peppers, and precooked local dishes were preferred by customers.

The products from the Belt and Road countries were popular in Hunan. Imported commodities, such as chili sauce from Rwanda and wines from South Africa, saw a 150%  growth in turnover. Sales of seafood such as king crabs and miniatus groupers in the Hema Fresh stores in Changsha increased by nearly 100%. Fruits from ASEAN countries including Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos were sold at wholesale prices on online shopping platform and directly delivered to customers' homes.

During the provincial shopping festival, a series of activities to help increase farmers' income were held on e-commerce platforms, making a total agricultural product turnover of 1.31 billion CNY.
