A centralized commencement ceremony for 340 major projects was held in Changsha on January 29. It is a move to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and strive to carry out the Strategy of "Strengthening the Provincial Capital" to accelerate Changsha's high-quality development. Total investment of the new projects is expected to be 195.1 billion yuan and the annual investment is 64 billion yuan. Wu Guiying, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, announced the start of the projects at the main venue. Zheng Jianxin, deputy secretary of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee and mayor of Changsha, attended.

Compared with the same period in 2022, there are 74 more projects started in the city this year and the annual planned investment increased by 13.4 billion yuan, up 28% and 26% respectively. The newly started projects have large investment volume and are dominated by industrial ones. There are 2 projects with an investment of over 10 billion yuan each, 8 with respective investment between 5 billion yuan and 10 billion yuan, and 38 with respective investment between 1 billion yuan and 5 billion yuan. There are 210 industrial development projects in such fields as advanced manufacturing and technological innovation, with an annual planned investment of 50.2 billion yuan, accounting for 62% of the total projects and 78% of the total annual planned investment, respectively. In addition, there are 82 infrastructure projects with an annual planned investment of 5.9 billion yuan, and 48 projects related to people's livelihood and eco-environmental protection, with an annual investment of 7.9 billion yuan.

The main venue was located in the Hunan Xiangjiang New Area. Project commencement activities were launched simultaneously at sub-venues in the Changsha Economic and Technological Development Zone and Changsha County area, the Ningxiang Economic and Technological Development Zone and Ningxiang City area, the Liuyang Economic and Technological Development Zone and Liuyang City area, the Wangcheng Economic and Technological Development Zone and Wangcheng District area, Furong District, Tianxin District, Kaifu District and Yuhua District.
