Various places around Changsha have recently launched a number of activities to celebrate the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year.
Liuyang
On January 21, the Lunar New Year's Eve, the Xiaohe Wanwan B&B will organize a fireworks show. On February 5, the Lantern Festival, evening fireworks parties will be held at the Liuyang Sky Theater and the Fireworks Carnival Base in Jinke Shanshuizhou Tourist Resort, Xianhu Village, Baijia Town.
During the Spring Festival holiday, scenic spots, cultural tourism venues, rural tourism spots, Internet-famous spots, and B&Bs across Liuyang will organize featured activities, such as making smoked meat, rice candy, and ciba (a traditional glutinous rice cake) and frying potato slices.
In addition, performances of intangible cultural heritage items such as Dayao dragon and lion dance, green-faced lion dance, and fire dragon dance will be staged.
Changsha County
During the Spring Festival holiday, visitors can visit a Spring Festival fair and watch traditional culture presentations such as bamboo strips in Qingshanpu Town. Besides, there is a lantern show at the Tian Han Cultural Park in Guoyuan Town. It lasts from January 18 to February 17. Dragon dance enthusiasts can take part in dragon dance activities in Jinjing Town during the holiday.
Changsha County has also launched several one-day Spring Festival tour routes, including a parent-child tour to Huanghua Town, a water town tour to Jiangbei and Huangxing towns, a romantic tour to Guoyuan Town, a red tour to Fulin and Kaihui towns, and a happy tour to Jinjing and Gaoqiao towns.
Wangcheng District
The 4th Tongguan Kiln Ancient Town Chinese New Year Celebration and the first Zigong Guochao (the rising cultural tide in China) Lantern Festival theme activities were launched on January 16, and will last for 21 days. Nearly 30 sets of themed lantern installations have been added, forming a total of over 40 landscapes featuring colorful lanterns.
From January 17 to February 5, door-shaped installations themed on the Chinese character "fu", or "blessing" in English, are placed at the Changsha Heimifeng National Forest Park, to create a festive atmosphere. The scenic area is open to the pubic free of charge during the Spring Festival holiday.
In Jinggang Ancient Town, there are snacks with local flavors such as sweet wine and Jinggang Smoked Bean Curd.
Ningxiang
The first Huilongshan Folk Culture Festival will kick off on January 22, the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year. It features various folk performances such as walking on stilts, dragon dance, and lion dance, amusement activities and delicious food.
