The first session of the 14th Hunan Provincial People's Congress opened on January 14. Hunan Governor Mao Weiming delivered a government work report. A total of 98 "Golden Ideas" from netizens were presented in the report and expected to be put into practice in 2023.

The "I have 'Golden Ideas' " campaign for 2023 covered 19 topics, among which three were in the spotlight – rural revitalization and county economy development; science and technology, education, and talent undertakings; transportation, water conservancy, logistics, and ecological infrastructure construction. Forty-three "Golden Ideas" related to these three topics were adopted in the work report, the largest number compared with other topics.

A number of "Golden Ideas" of experts were adopted, such as suggestions made by Deng Zigang from the Hunan Academy of Social Sciences, concerning boosting construction of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan national-level regional sci-tech innovation center and integrated and clustered development of strategic emerging industries. Deng has submitted more than 30 opinions and suggestions in total. 

A total of 3,310 qualified opinions and suggestions have been solicited, nearly 1,500 more than last session. Among them, 486 were submitted to the work report drafting team after going through sifting process, and a record 98 were adopted.

Beyond that, 278 "Golden Ideas" were displayed on the provincial government web portal, which evoked heated discussions among netizens. Meanwhile, 305 items were delivered to related authorities for handling, and 270 were responded by relevant departments. For example, a netizen who advised on optimizing elderly care services received a long reply from the Hunan Department of Civil Affairs. It says,"We will promote coordinated development of elderly care services that integrates home, communities and healthcare facilities; and, constitute a 15-minute elderly care service circle …"

According to the office of the campaign, the "Golden Ideas" came from all of Hunan's 13 cities and one prefecture, even other regions nationwide, such as Beijing, Guangdong, and Hubei. This campaign has been more and more influential.

The number of adopted suggestions was 37, 49, 81, 85, and 98 respectively in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023. A total of 350 "Golden Ideas" submitted from netizens from Hunan and other domestic regions had been adopted in the Hunan government work reports in five years.

The "Golden Ideas" campaign never comes to an end, said a person in charge of the campaign office. Hunan will continue to make use of the campaign and solicit people's ideas to make a promising future of Hunan Province.
