Changde, Mukono to Boost Friendly Cooperation

On January 11, Hunan's Changde City inked a letter of intent with Mukono Municipality of Uganda on establishing a friendship city relationship. Mukono is expected to become Changde's fourth international friendly and cooperative city. 


Zhou Zhenyu, deputy secretary of the CPC Changde Municipal Committee and mayor of the Changde Municipal People's Government, and Mukono Municipality Mayor Mukasa Erisa Nkoyoyo inked the document on behalf of the two cities, and delivered video speeches respectively.  

According to the letter of intent, Changde and Mukono will boost friendly exchanges and economic and trade contacts on the basis of equality and mutual benefit. The two cities will launch exchanges and cooperation in the fields of science and technology, education, culture, public health, tourism, sports, environment and natural resource management, and basic community services, and further promote international cooperation projects, to achieve mutual benefits and win-win results in economic and social development of the two sides.

Mayor Zhou marked that, Mukono Municipality has unique geological location, and shares complementary advantages with Changde, which create cooperation potential in such fields as industrial development, environment and natural resource management, and public infrastructure construction. He believed that the bilateral exchanges and cooperation will help boost common development in economy and society and benefit the people of the two cities. He expected that the two cities will bring in a new phase of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation and write a new chapter of friendly collaboration on the basis of peace, friendship, equality, mutual benefit, and mutual respect.

Mayor Mukasa stated that, the Namanve Industrial Park in Mukono Municipality is one of Uganda's largest investment projects with good development momentum. Mukasa Municipality will benefit from bilateral cooperation in various fields, including juvenile sports, agricultural mechanization, environmental degradation improvement, and vocational education for youths. These would further consolidate cooperation of the two cities and lead to win-win results.
