The unveiling ceremony of the Hunan Big Data Disaster Recovery Center was held in Chenzhou City on January 10. Chen Fei, vice governor of Hunan Province, attended and unveiled the plaque. 

Building the center is a basic foundation and a key underpinning for accelerating the development of Hunan's digital economy. As the society develops, data has become an essential production factor in the new era. Big data technologies are improved greatly and the strategic value of data resources are increased significantly. The center will accomplish centralized backup of data of the existing and scattered marginal data centers to create a safe, efficient, open and shared big data platform, in order to do a good job in the "storage, management and use" of big data of government departments at all levels, central enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and private enterprises to ensure data security. 

The CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government have attached great importance to the development of Dongjiang Lake Big Data Industrial Park. The provincial government approved the inauguration of the Hunan Big Data Disaster Recovery Center at the Dongjiang Lake Big Data Industrial Park, and issued the "New Hunan Ten Measures". A total of 20 million yuan of funds will be arranged to support the development of Dongjiang Lake Big Data Industrial Park every year. With the strong support and concern of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Hunan Provincial People's Government and relevant departments, the Dongjiang Lake Big Data Industrial Park maintains a good momentum of development. In the past five years, the Dongjiang Lake Big Data Center achieved a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of below 1.2. Its 200,000 racks can save 5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year after full operation, which is equivalent to reducing the consumption of standard coal by 1.77 million tons and cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 5.52 million tons. The data center will bring significant energy-saving benefits, making it the most energy-saving green ecological data center in China.

PUE is the ratio of total facility energy to IT equipment energy used in a data center. The closer the number moves down to 1, the more efficient the data center.
