CCID Consulting, a firm affiliated with a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, recently released a research report on China's top 10 cities and top 10 industrial parks in terms of new energy storage in 2022. Changsha topped the list of top 10 cities and Ningxiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone ranked 3rd among the top 10 industrial parks.
New energy storage refers to new energy storage technologies other than pumped storage hydro power, including new lithium-ion batteries, flow cells, flywheels, compressed air, and hydrogen (ammonia) energy storage.
The top 10 cities were selected after a comprehensive evaluation of cities' industrial competitiveness based on indicators such as basic capability, innovation capability, driving force, guarantee capability, and the number of enterprises.
Changsha has more than 100 advanced energy storage material enterprises. A closed-loop industrial chain from precursors, positive materials, negative materials, diaphragms and electrolytes to cells, PACK and waste battery recycling has taken shape. In the first three quarters of 2022, the added value of Changsha's advanced energy storage material industries above designated size increased by 73.56% year-on-year.
The selection of top 10 industrial parks was based on industrial development ability, core competitiveness, industrial guarantee ability, and other indicators.
Ningxiang High-tech Industrial Development Zone has cultivated the energy storage material industry as a characteristic industry. Over the past 10 years, the zone has focused on the coordinated development of industrial chain, innovation chain and service chain, and preliminarily built an energy storage material industrial cluster that is leading in the province and influential in China. In 2022, the output value of the zone's energy storage materials was expected to exceed 40 billion yuan.
