On January 3, the first working day of 2023, working staff of the Huaihua International Land Port were busy loading containers on a Huaihua-Laos international freight train. This batch of goods were mainly auto parts, which will set out to Laos on January 6.

The New Land-Sea Corridor Operation (Hunan) Co., Ltd. has delivered 150 international freight trains in 2022, surpassing the annual goal by 50% and resulting in a 150% increase in total foreign trade value year on year. Huaihua has integrated itself into the RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership). The Huaihua International Land Port has become a significant access to Europe and ASEAN countries, and built a bridge between the central and western regions of China and ASEAN countries, based on the national Belt and Road Initiative.

The Huaihua International Land Port is Hunan's freight transport hub oriented to ASEAN countries, an important platform to dovetail itself with RCEP, and a significant carrier of a portal city in the national strategy of the New Western Land-sea Corridor. Huaihua City has vigorously built a strategic point on the eastern route and a hub in central China in the construction of the New Western Land-sea Corridor. It takes the construction of the Huaihua International Land Port, ASEAN Logistics Industrial Park, and Huaihua-ASEAN Freight Transport Hub as a strategic practice and a significant leverage to integrate into the New Western Land-sea Corridor and connect with RCEP and ASEAN countries. The corridor advantages have been turned into the superiority for development. In the past year, the Huaihua International Land Port has given full play to its platform and policy advantages to boost the operation of the Huaihua-Laos and Huaihua-Vietnam cross-border freight trains. The rail-sea combined transport freight trains operate regularly between Huaihua and the Beibu Gulf Port, and freight trains run between Huaihua and Changsha every day.

In 2022, Huaihua joined the New Western Land-sea Corridor "13+2" inter-provincial coordination and cooperation mechanism. It has made all-out efforts to develop port economy. Trade and processing integrated industrial parks and industrial bases construction has been accelerated. Port-related industries such as fruit, cassava, rubber, and spices are taking shape. Eight key industrial projects including an intelligent cold-chain logistics center were launched. Thirty-five foreign trade companies and 32 freight forwarding and cross-border e-commercial service enterprises were newly registered. The overseas warehouse in Vietnam began operation.

In 2023, Huaihua will leverage the international land port to thoroughly integrate into China's "dual circulation" development paradigm, with more than 300 international freight trains scheduled to be operated.
