An aircraft loaded with prepackaged food departed from the Changsha Huanghua International Airport to the Republic of Ghana on December 26. This was the first export of prepackaged food of the Gaoqiao Grand Market to Africa via market procurement trade.
Prepackaged food refers to the food packed or made up with a measured quantity in advance ready for sale in a package or wrapper, such as bulk candy, bagged biscuits, box-packed yogurt, and bagged rice. Changsha is the third city exporting prepackaged food via market procurement trade, after Hangzhou in Zhejiang and Xiamen in Fujian.
"Food producers had to register for filing at the customs first, and export products after application and passing inspection and quarantine. Now, customs filing is exempted and customs clearance procedures are streamlined for market procurement trade," said a manager of an import and export trade company.
The prepackaged food exported to Ghana this time is fruit juice jelly candy. An enterprise in Yuhua District, Changsha, started business in Ghana. It set up a 1,000-sqm Hunan product marketing center integrating operation, storage, and service, and employed more than 10 local youths, to promote the products made in China, especially those made in Hunan.
