Recently the National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced the acceptance results of the 2022 national wetland parks. Sixty-one national wetland parks across the country passed the acceptance inspection, including four ones from Hunan Province. They are Liling Guanzhuang Lake National Wetland Park, Xinning Fuyi River National Wetland Park, Tongdao Yudai River National Wetland Park, and Mayang Jinjiang River National Wetland Park.
Liling Guanzhuang Lake National Wetland Park covers a wetland area of about 12,000 mu (800 ha.) and a total area of 203 square kilometers. The park boasts two national first-class protected plants, three national second-class ones, and 215 vertebrates. It borders Liuyang City. It is 30 kilometers away from Liling city proper, 45 kilometers away from Zhuzhou City, and 80 kilometers away from Changsha City.
Hunan Xinning Fuyi River National Wetland Park is located in Xinning County, Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, with a total area of 1,730.1 hectares. There are 186 species of wild vertebrates in 5 classes, 25 orders, 64 families in and around the park, and 957 species of seed plants in 160 families and 551 genera in the park. There are 69 families, 172 genera and 238 species of wetland plants, and 5 national second-class protected plants.
Tongdao Yudai River National Wetland Park is located in the central part of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County. The park covers a total area of 1,503.8 hectares, including 984.5 hectares or 65.46% of wetland area. It boasts rich biodiversity, with a total of 832 species of seed plants in 153 families and 533 genera. A new species of Primulaceae from Hunan Province was described. There are 224 species of wild vertebrates in 5 classes, 29 orders, and 80 families, including one species of elliot's pheasant under state protection.
Mayang Jinjiang River National Wetland Park covers a total planned area of 1,918.8 hectares, including 1,566.1 hectares or 81.6% of wetland area. The wetland park is divided into five functional areas: conservation area, rehabilitation area, education and exhibition area, rational utilization area and management service area.
