Changsha was listed as one of the happiest cities in China for 2022 during the annual Happy Cities of China Forum, which was held in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province on December 21. The forum was hosted by the Oriental Outlook magazine and the think tank Liaowang Institute, both run by Xinhua News Agency. Changsha holds the title of the happiest city in China for the 15th consecutive year.
Besides Changsha, the other nine happiest cities are Chengdu, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Qingdao, Shenyang, Hefei and Xining.
In addition, Liuyang county-level city was ranked as one of the happiest cities for entrepreneurs. Changsha County and Ningxiang county-level city both won the title of the happiest county-level cities.
Changsha has fully implemented positioning, missions, and tasks of the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" Strategy, upheld a people-oriented approach to pursue high-quality development and good governance, and taken practical measures to strive for improving the well-being of the people. Changsha has continued to raise its profile as the happiest city, making it an ideal place for an increasing number of people.
The selection of the happiest cities in China has been held every year since 2007. It has become the most influential urban survey event in China. The 2022 edition focused more on cities' practices in city governance during a two-month-long assessment based on big data collection, application and presentation, field survey, and expert review. The event put the people at the center and adhered to the philosophy of "evaluation by people, objective recording and accurate analysis", which has received extensive attention from experts, scholars, city administrators and people from all walks of life.
