The second phase of Changsha Red Star Global Agricultural Products Wholesale Center started trial operation on December 17. As an important part of the market circulation of Hunan (Hongxing) Agricultural Products Circulation Industrial Park, the project will provide guarantee for the "vegetable basket" project in Hunan and even in central China.
The Changsha Red Star Global Agricultural Products Wholesale Center, which has been improved through market transformation and upgrading, has a total investment of 10 billion yuan and a planned land of 2,000 mu (about 133 ha.). Its first phase, a fruit market, has been successfully operated in January last year, with an average annual trading volume of 4.5 million tons and a transaction volume of nearly 50 billion yuan, making it the only "aircraft carrier" of the fruit industry in central China and the first class in China. The second phase, a "vegetable basket in central China", was put into trial operation on December 17. It is nearly 4 times the area of the old Red Star Vegetable Wholesale Market. It integrates the whole category, whole system and one-stop purchase of vegetables, seafood and aquatic products, meat, grain, oil, dry food and condiments. It will coordinate with the "fruit plate" project in the first phase to realize "buying and selling globally".
In addition, the largest seafood trading and distribution center in central China and a new landmark of Internet-famous consumption will also be created. A China-Africa free trade zone channel to introduce African seafood specialties such as abalone and lobster into the domestic market will be opened. This will help meet residents' individual needs.
Free shuttle bus services will be offered to residents who go to the center to buy fruits and fresh food.
