Xiangxi Biancheng Airport started construction in August 2018. It is a regional civil airport, covering 3,525 mu (about 235 ha.). It is designed to handle 300,000 passenger trips and 450 tons of cargoes annually. So far, the earth work of the airfield has been completed, and the pavement, supporting facilities, navigational lighting system, and air traffic control projects have been pre-examined. The airport will start inspection flights later this month, and open to air traffic next March.
