The 2022 Central China (Changsha) Printing Industry Expo will be held in Changsha from December 13 to 14. The expo is hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee (Changsha Press and Publication Bureau), the China South Publishing & Media Group Co., Ltd., and the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Culture Market Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement. At this year's expo, the China Print Periodical Office will release the competitiveness index of book and periodical printing industry in major cities of China for the first time.
In recent years, Changsha has seen high-quality development in the printing industry, with outstanding achievements made. Changsha has become a printer of major national themed publications. From 2021 to 2022, Changsha has printed 46 million copies of themed publications, including more than 10 million copies of 20th CPC National Congress documents and study materials that were printed as the first batch. In addition, Changsha is also the only branch office outside Beijing in the country to print the four books including "Let the People Live a Better Life -- Xi Jinping's Footprints in Zhengding County". Changsha is committed to building itself into a printing base of books and periodicals in south China. Driven by the brand effect, the printing industry in Changsha is expected to grow by 10% in 2022, and the total output value will exceed 20 billion yuan.
The expo will be a showcase of Changsha's development achievements in printing major national themed publications and building a printing base of books and periodicals in south China. It will also display the innovation on the basis of what has worked in the past, opening-up and rise of Changsha's printing industry.
The expo will combine online and offline exhibitions. For the first time, a never-ending online printing expo will be available on the platform-Changsha.cn. A retrospective exhibition of Rong Bao Zhai's woodblock printing, an intangible cultural heritage item, will be held at the Hunan Provincial Exhibition Center. Woodblock prints of famous paintings including the Night Revels of Han Xizai and the Painting of Lady of Guoguo on a Spring Outing will be on show. They are exactly the same as the original. Visitors will have a chance to appreciate the unique charm of this national intangible cultural heritage item.
