The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the China Federation of Industrial Economics jointly announced the seventh list of individual manufacturing champions and the first and fourth batches of individual manufacturing champion companies (products) that had passed the review. Hunan had 21 new national individual manufacturing champion enterprises (products), making the total number to 48. This ranked sixth nationwide and topped the central part of China.

National individual manufacturing champion enterprises refer to those who have long focused on product segmentation of manufacturing industry; have taken the lead in production technology or technique worldwide; and, have occupied the most international market share of individual products (global top three). The title includes both the individual champion demonstration enterprises and the enterprises with individual champion products.

Seven Hunan-based companies were awarded individual champion demonstration enterprises, each boasting a unique skill. Among them, Changning Carbon occupies 45% of the global carbon rod market share; Lens Technology is the "pioneer" of mobile phone glass screens; Hunan Oil Pump Co., Ltd. is the largest oil pump manufacturer with the largest market share in China; and, Bichamp New Materials occupies a quarter of band saw blades market share nationwide.

Forty-one "Made in Hunan" products won the title of individual champion product. Among them, the whole section rock tunnel boring machine of China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. continues to be at the forefront of the global market and technology fields; the domestic market share of Hunan ZDCY CNC Equipment Co., Ltd. 's complete set of CNC spiral bevel gear machine tools is as high as 90%; Changde Liyuan broke the monopoly of foreign technology and developed a series of nickel foam products, becoming the world's largest manufacturer of nickel foam for civil use.

Hunan has been consolidating the traditional products, cultivating the new ones, and planning the promising ones. The number of its national individual manufacturing champion enterprises (products) has increased from 4 in 2017 to 48 in 2022.
