During the 24 hours of December 8, there were 57 new asymptomatic cases reported in Hunan, including 2 imported cases. The 55 local asymptomatic cases included 12 in Changsha, 12 in Yongzhou, 11 in Shaoyang, 10 in Loudi, 6 in Changde, 3 in Yiyang, and 1 in Xiangxi. There were no new asymptomatic cases re-categorized as confirmed ones. There were 195 new cases out of quarantine (including 3 imported cases). There were 3,695 people under medical observation (including 10 imported cases).

Between 0:00 on January 1, 2022 and 24:00 on December 8, 2022, a total of 1,189 confirmed COVID-19 cases (including 78 imported cases) had been reported in Hunan. There were 429 patients hospitalized (including 3 imported cases), and no severe cases. Seven hundred and sixty patients were discharged from hospitals (including 75 imported cases). No people had died.
