Hunan Makes Utmost Efforts to Guarantee Winter Power Supply

Thirty power grid projects for winter 2022 have been completed and put into operation, including 7 provincial and 23 municipal ones. It was learned from the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Company Limited on December 6, 2022. Before the cold wave peak arrives, it will provide reliable, safe and high-quality power supply for the people provincewide.


The seven provincial-level projects are:

- Jingmen-Changsha UHV project;

- Changsha Aijiachong substation expansion project;

- Yueyang North power transmission and transformation project;

- Pingjiang Power Plant phase Ⅱ delivery project;

- Shaoshan-Yuntian Line Ⅰ transformation project; and,

- Xiangxi power transmission and transformation project and 220 kV line support project.

The 23 municipal -level projects include five 220 kV projects and eighteen 35 kV to 110 kV ones.


The Yueyang North 500 kV substation was officially put into operation in early December. It is an important part of the 500 kV backbone grid frame in Hunan Province. Upon operation, it can meet the needs of Huaneng Yueyang Power Plant to transmit 900 megawatts of electricity; ensure the trial operation of Unit 2 of Pingjiang Power Plant on schedule; and, further improve the regional grid structure to increase the power supply capacity and reliability of the power grid in northern Hunan.


The State Grid Hunan Company remarked that it will keep an eye on key projects such as the 500 kV main transformer capacity increase project in Gangshi Village, Changde City; continue to increase investment in construction; and, be at the forefront and on the site, to ensure that these projects will be put into operation as scheduled, laying a solid foundation for the whole province to win the battle against freezing cold weather.
