The unveiling ceremony of Xiaoxiang Laboratory, Lushan Laboratory, and Dongting Laboratory, three of the four major laboratories of the Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center, was held in Changsha on the afternoon of December 5, 2022. The Hengshan Laboratory, the other one of the four, was unveiled this October. So now the four important parts of the innovation center have made their public appearances.

Chen Fei, vice governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, attended the ceremony and inaugurated the laboratories. Wang Yaonan, Bai Lianyang, Shan Yang, and Wu Yiqiang, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), were present.

The Yuelushan Industrial Innovation Center (laboratory), together with Yuelushan Laboratory, Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Furong Laboratory, are four pillar laboratories of Hunan Province. It is an open collaborative innovation platform that fully shares academician resources under the Hunan-CAE cooperation framework, with key industrial parks and zones, universities, institutes, and enterprises as major support.

The three new laboratories will respectively focus on the fields of intelligent manufacturing, industrial design, and food engineering and safety and carry out original basic research and key generic technical studies, so as to build an innovative foundation for the high-quality development of Hunan's industry. Xiaoxiang Laboratory will make technological innovation in advanced intelligent vehicle manufacturing; Lushan Laboratory will highlight industrial design innovation and the innovative application of new materials, new processes, and new technologies; and, Dongting Laboratory will center on basic food science, equipment science, and safety science to launch basic, cutting-edge, and public welfare research.

In the future, these three new laboratories, together with the previously unveiled Hengshan Laboratory (Quality Infrastructure), will build a public innovation service platform; cultivate and incubate national and provincial innovation platforms; organize technical research; promote the transformation of sci-tech achievements; and, provide major original innovations and key core technical support for the high-quality development of Hunan's industry.
