The China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) recently released a supplementary list of the first batch of national science popularization bases for 2021-2025. Four institutions from Changsha made the list, bringing the total number of such bases in the city to 20. They are the Hunan Fisheries Science Research Institute, the College of Horticulture of Hunan Agricultural University, the Hunan Youth Activity Center, and the Hunan Brain Hospital (the Second People's Hospital of Hunan Province) Health Science Popularization Base.

The College of Horticulture of Hunan Agricultural University is one of the oldest and largest colleges in the university, with such disciplines as tea science, vegetable science, fruit science, ornamental horticulture, and medicinal plant resources engineering. The science popularization base here is mainly responsible for publicizing modern agricultural knowledge to the public. It is open to the public all year round. Reservations are required for individual and group visits.

The science popularization base of the Second People's Hospital of Hunan Province is a public welfare organization sponsored by the hospital and authorized by the government. It was established in May 2019. According to the Healthy China initiative and people's health needs, it carries out health popularization and education activities regarding the prevention and treatment of common, frequently-occurring and difficult diseases in a manner that is welcomed by the public.

Sixteen bases in Changsha were selected as national science popularization bases in early 2022. They are:

--Planetarium of Hunan Normal University; 

--Longping Rice Museum;

--Landfar Biological Medicine Co., Ltd.; 

--School of Civil Engineering of Central South University;

--Changsha Sea World (Hunan) Co., Ltd.;

--Hunan Museum of Geology;

--Hunan Science and Technology Museum; 

--Hunan Institute of Horticulture;

--Hunan Botanical Garden;

--Hunan Intelligent Education Equipment Display and Experience Center;

--Herbarium of Animals and Plants of Hunan Normal University;

--Aviation Hall of Changsha Aeronautical Vocational and Technical College;

--Changsha Tianyi Space Science and Technology Institute Co., Ltd.;

--Human Morphology Museum of Central South University; and,

--School of Traffic & Transportation Engineering of Central South University.
