The 2022 Report on Tourism Competitiveness of China's Counties and County-level Cities was released recently. China's top 100 counties and county-level cities in terms of comprehensive tourism competitiveness and tourism development potential were announced. Changsha's Liuyang county-level city, Ningxiang county-level city and Changsha County were shortlisted for tourism competitiveness, ranking 24th, 36th and 73rd respectively.

The report was released by a think tank, the Beijing Zhongxin Urban Planning and Design Institute and other institutions. The competitiveness indexes of 1,866 counties and county-level cities (districts are not included) in the Chinese mainland were assessed based on six sub-indexes, namely the variety of tourism resources, the vitality of tourism economy, the improvement of tourism facilities, the superiority of ecological environment, the effectiveness of government promotion, and the reputation of tourism brands.
