A flight carrying 1,837 pieces of e-commerce goods weighing 33.1 tons took off at Changsha Huanghua International Airport at 15:36 on December 1. The airplane was headed to Bournemouth, Britain. It is the first cargo air route linking Hunan and Britain.
The European Cargo Limited operates the air route, with three flights weekly. This will help promote trade between Hunan and European countries. So far, Changsha has resumed and opened eight new international cargo routes to the cities such as Osaka, Manila, Bangkok, Addis Ababa, and Bournemouth.
Changsha Airport handled 471 inbound and outbound cargo flights in the third quarter of 2022, up 33.4% compared to the previous quarter. As a result, it registered fast quarter-on-quarter growth for two consecutive quarters.
Since the beginning of this year, Changsha Customs has supported Changsha Airport in resuming and opening new international cargo flights and promoted the reform of "coordination of bonded zones and port areas", to realize the free trans-venue and cross-region flow of goods that are under customs supervision and improve Changsha Airport's freight capacity. As a result, the customs clearance efficiency has been enhanced during the January-October period, with the customs clearance time for imports and exports at the airport cut to 16.7 hours and 0.29 hours, respectively.
