The 1st Tourism Development Conference of Hengyang City opened on November 25, 2022. Qin Guowen, vice governor of Hunan Province, attended the opening ceremony.

Hengyang City has innovated tourism development modes in recent years. It has expanded various tourism patterns, such as industrial tourism, study tours, art + tourism, and sports + cultural tourism. Grasping the opportunity of this conference, it strives to raise the profile of Mount Hengshan, also known as Nanyue Mountain, as a calling card of history and culture. The Hengyang government rolled out a guideline on accelerating the construction of a world-class tourist destination represented by Mount Hengshan. The guideline specified the development goals, stressed rallying the drivers of industries, and asked to enhance policy support, to promote integrated development of the "all-for-one" tourism. Hengyang will carry out a new pattern of cultural tourism development, featuring consolidating the core status of Mount Hengshan, constructing a Mount Hengshan Tourism Economic Circle, and promoting integrated development of "all-for-one" tourism, so as to build it into a world-class tourist destination with distinctive characteristics. In the first three quarters this year, Hengyang had received 31.5721 million visits, increasing by 10.16% over last year. The tourism revenue hit 31.416 billion CNY, up 12.11% year on year. These two growth rates respectively ranked second and third in the province.

The conference was hosted by the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee and the Hengyang City People's Government. The two-day conference would have three major events–an opening artistic performance, 2022 Nanyue Summit Forum, and a Hengyang cuisine cooking skills competition; and, exploration tours around Hengyang City.
