On November 16th, 195 tons of sesame were imported from Mozambique, in Africa, after completing customs clearance and inspection at Yueyang Customs. This delivery was Hunan's first mass import of sesame from Africa.
The import enterprise introduced the high quality and reasonable price, African sesame is used as an essential raw material of edible oil. Previously, it had to purchase sesame from foreign trade companies in coastal areas. This time, the direct import access at the Chenglingji Port helped it lower the operation cost.
An innovative measure of "the inland river freight charge of the imported goods transported under customs transit shall not be included into the dutiable value" has been piloted at the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone. According to the Yueyang Customs, the import of this batch of sesame enjoyed the measure and saved 1,368 CNY of taxation.
The customs data shows that, between January and October, Hunan had imported 64.13 million CNY of agricultural products from Africa, rising by 130.3%.
