2022 International Forum on Engineering Science and Technology Opens in Changsha

The 2022 International Forum on Engineering Science and Technology and the 14th China Engineering Management Forum opened in Changsha on November 12. The theme was "major engineering project and engineering management under the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality". More than 70 academicians participated online and offline in the forum.

Leaders and experts attended and addressed the opening ceremony included: Chen Fei,  Hunan vice governor; Wu Manqing, academician and vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE); Hou Zengqian, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and deputy director of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC); and, Li Jiancheng, CAE academician and president of Central South University.

Chen Xiaohong, CAE academician, director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Party secretary of Hunan University of Technology and Business presided over the opening ceremony.

Vice Governor Chen pointed out that, Hunan Province has focused on boosting sci-tech innovation in the fields with superiority, including seed industry, computing, the "3+3+2" industrial cluster, BeiDou application, and life health; and, carrying forward the positioning, missions, and tasks of the "Three Hubs and Four New Missions" Strategy. We will promote coordinated development of digitalization and green, low carbon transformation of industries, and improve the construction and management capacity based on green low-carbon development.

Hunan's "3+3+2" industrial cluster system refers to: giving priority to fostering three world-class industrial clusters – construction machinery, rail transit, and aerospace power; three national-level industrial clusters – information technology application innovation, advanced materials, and, energy-saving, environmental protection, and new energy; and, upgrading traditional industries and cultivating emerging industries.

The forum was hosted by CAE and NFSC. Fifty-five high-level academic reports were given on the cutting-edge topics, such as major engineering project and engineering management under the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, low-carbon and intelligent technologies and application in major engineering projects, digital projects, and data-based intelligence.
