Hunan Government, Huawei to Deepen Strategic Cooperation During 14th Five-year Plan Period

On the afternoon of November 2, the Hunan government and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. signed an agreement to deepen strategic cooperation during the 14th Five-year Plan period (2021-2025) in Changsha. Mao Weiming, deputy secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and governor of the People's Government of Hunan Province, held talks with Xu Zhijun, Huawei's rotating chairman. They witnessed the signing ceremony.

Li Dianxun, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and executive vice governor of Hunan Province, and Deng Qunce, secretary general of the People's Government of Hunan Province, attended.

At the meeting, Governor Mao thanked Huawei for its long-term strong support to Hunan and briefed on the province's economic and social development. Mao said that Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices. It is an outstanding enterprise representative for independent innovation and the source of pride of the nation. Huawei is an important strategic partner of Hunan Province in the field of information digitalization. Governor Mao added that the signing of the agreement unveiled a new chapter in cooperation between Hunan and Huawei. He hoped that both sides would give full play to their complementary advantages to carry out in-depth strategic cooperation in talent introduction, industrial layout, R&D institution establishment, and smart city construction. It was hoped that the two sides would work together to build a complete digital economy ecosystem and an interconnected and collaborative intelligent transportation system. Mao promised that Hunan would provide the most favorable business environment and the best government services for the development of Huawei in Hunan.

Xu Zhijun thanked Hunan for its care and support to Huawei's development. He said that Hunan has great development potential and vitality, and the two sides have achieved fruitful results in cooperation in the computing industry, digital economy, 5G integration application and other fields. Huawei will comprehensively strengthen strategic cooperation with Hunan and give full play to its advantages in industry, technology, and talent, in order to promote the implementation of more high-quality projects in Hunan in the fields of the computing industry, artificial intelligence industry, smart city, independent complete sets, and digital government, and facilitate the high-quality development of Hunan's digital industry.

According to the agreement, the two sides will deepen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as industrial chains reinforcement and upgrading; advanced computing and artificial intelligence core technologies R&D; industrial ecological agglomeration; digital government; new smart city construction; and intelligent transportation system. These efforts will help create a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win results during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
