Changsha Re-elected as UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau Member

The 7th United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Congress took place both online and offline in Daejeon, South Korea recently. A new election was held for the congress's governing bodies. Changsha City was elected as a member of the UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau for 2022-2025. This is the city's second consecutive term after being elected in 2019.

Over 3,200 government officials, experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from 80 countries participated in the congress. Focusing on key words such as people, planet and government, they had in-depth discussions and exchanges on promoting citizen equality, protecting the planet and strengthening urban resilience. Members of the congress's presidium including president, co-presidents, treasurer, and chairperson of the committee on gender equality were elected.

Changsha joined the UCLG in 2016 and was elected to the UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau in 2019. It has been re-elected to the UCLG ASPAC and Executive Bureau and the UCLG World Council and Executive Bureau successively.

Changsha has been taking an active part in the meetings and activities under the UCLG framework, strictly fulfilling the responsibilities and obligations of the executive bureaus and councils, and dedicating itself to making its voice heard and strengthening China's power on UCLG platforms at all levels.
