South African Guests Visit Changsha

On October 17, Phillip David Dexter, chairperson of the Board of Directors of Armaments Corporation of South Africa SOC Ltd (ARMSCOR), and Chen Dabing, chairperson of the Board of Directors of Chenshia Group, visited Changsha and attended a symposium. Government and enterprise representatives including Xu Xiangping, counselor of the Hunan Provincial people's Government and chairperson of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Promotion Council; Zheng Ping, director of the Changsha Municipal Commerce Bureau; Yi Jing, deputy district head of the Yuhua District People's Government; Xiao Xiangdong, CPC Working Committee secretary and director of the Hunan Pilot Free Trade Zone Changsha Area Yuhua Management Committee; and Liu Hengyi, chairman of the Hunan Guoqing Holding Group Co., Ltd, also attended.

At the symposium, Phillip David Dexter and Chen Dabing introduced basic company situation respectively. Later, the two sides had in-depth exchanges on the in-depth economic and trade cooperation between China and South Africa, the RMB payment and settlement method in South Africa, trade cooperation in bulk commodities, China's commodity exhibition tour and other relevant issues.

Enterprise representative Luo Xu, who is general manager of the Hunan Red Star International Exhibition Co., Ltd., introduced the company's plan of "promoting trade through exhibitions". He hoped to take the symposium as an opportunity to cooperate with ARMSCOR, Chenshia Group and Guoqing Holding Group. He also hoped that activities will be held and trade cooperation carried out in South Africa.

Zheng Ping said that, South Africa and Changsha enjoy strong economic complementarity, huge space for cooperation, sound momentum of development and broad prospects for cooperation. South African entrepreneurs are welcome to invest in Changsha. She also invited ARMSCOR and Chenshia Group to participate in the 3rd China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. She hoped that the two sides would conduct cooperation in economy and trade, tourism, rice farming, construction machinery, minerals and electronic products in the future.

Xu Xiangping said that Hunan attaches great importance to the visit by South African guests. Government, research institute and enterprise representatives were brought together to discuss a plan for the next step of cooperation. He expected Changsha to carry out more bilateral exchanges with South Africa in the future.
