The first phase of the West Ring Line of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway started trial operation on October 14. The project starts at Xiangtan North Station of the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway and ends at Shantang Station of Changsha Metro Line 3. 

The project is an iconic project to build the "Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan on the Track". It will link up with Changsha Metro Line 3. It is a core backbone project of the "half-an-hour traffic circle" of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan City Cluster and also a livelihood line facilitating fast cross-city travel of Changsha and Xiangtan citizens.
